The Role
As Senior Financial Accountant you will be partnering with the business to ensure fast, accurate and well-informed decisions. You will be proactive and capable of working under minimal supervision and at times against tight deadlines, taking ownership for your work. As an effective problem solver, you will have a high attention for detail whilst always keeping the big picture in mind. You will work to build great relationships within the business, ensuing your status as a trusted advisor.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Respond to all queries in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring a response within 24 hours. Escalate to more senior team members as required.
  • Assist in the preparation and communication of accounting information and advice for business management.
  • Maintain a general awareness and understanding of Intergen’s policies and procedures
  • Assist our business managers to understand the financial aspects of their business groups.
  • Assisting with the month end process right through to account preparation. This includes ensuring accurate recognition of revenue and recording of work in progress, month end journals, reconciliations, commission and bonus calculations culminating in preparation of consolidated monthly accounts.
  • Reviewing and assisting General Managers with their weekly forecasting and P&L analysis and associated reports to better understand their financial position each month, both historically and forward looking.

The Person
This role would suit someone with the following skills and experience:

  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Proven ability to determine critical issues as and when they arise.
  • High level of numeracy and good commercial acumen.
  • Exposure to IFRS is required.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting; ideally CA qualified.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office product tools.
  • Advanced excel knowledge is essential.
