Intergen supports AB Equipment's inaugural Innovation Award

21 November 2017

Wellington, New Zealand - November 21, 2017 – Felipe Cornejo Perez wins the inaugural AB Equipment Innovation award, sponsored by Intergen. Simon Bright, Intergen CEO, went onsite at AB Equipment in Auckland to present the award.

AB Equipment’s mission is to be the market leader in materials handling, construction and environmental equipment along with other selected niche markets, bringing together leading products from around the world.

AB Equipment and Intergen have a strong working relationship and Intergen was excited when discussions about sponsoring this innovation award began.

Intergen CEO, Simon Bright says, “Intergen strongly believes in supporting new, fresh and innovative ICT talent and we were delighted to be able to take the chance to support AB Equipment, with whom we have a strong technology partnership, in recognising innovation within their workplace.”

Originally from Chile, Felipe had only been in the country a handful of months before he was attracted to AB Equipment (ABE), and having a background in electrical engineering ABE saw a great opportunity to utilise Felipe’s skills as not only a high-level electrical diagnostician but also to create some bespoke solutions for their brand.

Felipe immediately saw an opportunity to create a device that physically limits the speed of any forklift on the market by virtue of interrupting and mimicking a signal to the machines ECU. Unlike other speed limiting devices on the market, the C.O.L.D (Cornejo Operator Limiting Device) system has the ability to be used on any petrol or diesel machine. It is contained in a small water/dust resistant enclosure that can be discreetly mounted anywhere on the machine. It can be programmed via Bluetooth on a smart device or over WiFi if connectivity is available and the modular nature of the device means that it can also be connected to the machine CANBUS or other inputs should the client require more than just speed limiting. SMS and email alerts for set triggers can also be sent directly to the customer.

Nick Stewart, ABE’s GM – IT and Business Systems says, “The truly great thing about this is that Felipe has created the whole device in his garage at home. From starting with a bare fibreglass blank, he has designed and printed the circuits, sourced all of the components and programmed the chipsets to make this work for us. Already thinking about the next solution, he is a true innovator within our business and we are lucky to have him on board as one of our team.”
