Our assumptions about information management

I’ve been spending a lot of time reviewing information practices for a public sector organisation here in Wellington.

After collecting data from multiple sources, the customer has drawn the conclusion that technology alone cannot rescue them, which is a good insight on their part. Technology can be a powerful enabler for business, but it cannot overcome sloppy documentation or even non-documentation.

On the other hand, I’ve also come across this video. I think it’s a great counter to a wholly paper-based, bookshelf mindset. Technology may not be able to solve all our information issues, but it can do a lot to enable organisations that are ready.
