Office 365 is now available – and our customers are already using it

Steve Ballmer launched the eagerly awaited new cloud-based application for collaboration and communication earlier this week.

In his introduction to Office 365 Ballmer highlighted, the opportunities it offers small and large businesses worldwide, such as, reducing total cost of ownership, allowing effective real time communication and collaboration. He says:

“Great collaboration is critical to business growth, and because it’s so important, we believe the best collaboration technology should be available to everyone. With a few clicks, Office 365 levels the playing field, giving small and midsize businesses powerful collaboration tools that have given big businesses an edge for years.”

Intergen has worked extensively in the BPOS space (using the previous incarnation of Office 365, the Business Productivity Online Suite) in recent years and implemented numerous BPOS solutions for clients. Working closely with Microsoft, Intergen has been behind the scenes for some time working with Office 365, finding out the ins and outs and working with our customers to either bring them to the cloud for the first time or to help them transition from BPOS to Office 365. This early involvement has allowed us to launch one of New Zealand’s first production implementations of Office 365 with Queenstown-based medical recruitment company, MedRecruit, which went live on Wednesday this week.

Office 365 allows people to collaborate and communicate at the same time, no matter where they are, through instant messaging and virtual meetings as well as enabling people to work collaboratively on files and documents at the same time using the Office 365 applications. These include word processing, spreadsheet and presentations - email, calendar, contacts, instant messaging, web meetings, videoconferencing, intranet and website creation tools.

MedRecruit’s move to Office 365 (with Intergen replacing its on-premise exchange (BPOS-based) to a full cloud offering with Office 365) makes MedRecruit one of first companies to use and implement the final production version of Office 365 in New Zealand. Implementation of the solution has given MedRecruit effective real time communication, improving collaboration amongst the business and reducing costs. As Dr Sam Hazeldine, Medrecruit’s Managing Director says:

“The testing process went really smoothly which was fantastic. We have worked closely with Intergen for a number of years now and are really pleased with the expertise and support the team provides us.”

With significant experience in this area already, we’re looking forward to working with and showing customers the many opportunities for cost efficiency and improved productivity that Office 365 offers. Cloud computing is set to continue its rapid growth, and we’re well-schooled in helping our customers in their journey to maximise the benefits they can realise from the cloud.
